The Ozzy Project & Cameras

I use many cameras on this project. Lately I've been using a Fuji X-E1 with an 18-55mm lens on it. I also have used a Leica M8.2, a Leica D-Lux 4, Nikon D70, D80, D90, Sony NEX 5, Fuji X10, Canon G9, and a Canon S95. There is no perfect camera. Each one is good and bad in certain situations. The Fuji X-E1 is annoying with its slow AF speed. The compact cameras have smaller sensors so blowing up the pictures can be a real problem. The Nikon has always been the perfect camera as I can change the lenses on it. But it's much bigger than the other cameras. Still, if I had to choose only one system to photograph dogs (Digital), I'd choose the nikon System for it's variety and speed. Ozzy is not a fast moving dog, but the camera I use has to be of quality and able to keep up with him.

Ozzy Project: Year Four Continues...

I've been in a complete funk these past two weeks. I think it's the lowest I've been since 2009. It's terrible. I plug away at this project, but even this isn't helping me stay above ground mentally. I am really not doing well right now. I hope it will pass in the next few days. I'm thinking of quitting this project. I want to quit everything, frankly. I'm totally spent.

Famous Ozzy

02-02-13 (1196)

02-03-13 (1197)
As I progress with the start of year 4 of photographing Ozzy every day, I think of how far I've come in the process. It's a lot of photos, not counting the extras that I couldn't include in the specific project. All of them can be seen on FlickrI can't really put them all here due to Google charging money for the extra picture files. I've already upgraded twice. I do like that I have many of his project photos on different websites though. Plus I make a 365 book for every year on Blurb. Sure, it's expensive, but it's the only way to get a hard copy on what is only a computer bit/byte. Who knows where they internet will be in future years, or if those websites will be around. I like hard copies. Now I have to get started on the third year Blurb book. It's is a long, arduous task as Blurb doesn't make it easy in their glitchy software. Ugh, I am dreading it. But I have to do it. I also want to make a B&W only book of the best shots. I took some really nice B&W shots over the years and B&W is one of my favorite themes with Ozzy. He just looks fabulous in a B&W photo.

So, hopefully I can keep up with the posts as not one long month's worth that you scroll down. I'd like to write bit about this too.

Ozzy will be four years old in May 2013. I can't even believe so much time has passed. In July of 2013, it will be my 4 year anniversary from retirement from my Corrections Officer job. It was only a month of retirement and one year of being dog-less that I found Ozzy. I went from watching 118 inmates (at the most) to watching one puppy. What a contrast. If I didn't fall in love with his little comical personality, there would be no dog in my house, and no project. But he is honestly the best dog I've ever owned in regards to personality and photographing. No dog compares. He is known all over the world, and has fans worldwide. On days that I wanted to quit the project, people wrote to me to ask that I continue due to them expecting to see Ozzy' face every morning when they turned their computers on at work. That makes me smile. I hope that Ozzy brightens everyone's day. Then this project will be so worth it.
